1967 Porsche 912 Coupe – Concours Award Winning Survivor
As a rare and exceptional example of a survivor vehicle, this 1967 Porsche 912 Coupe, affectionately known as “Skippy,” stands out as one of the finest 58-year-old original-condition cars. It is a documented two-owner vehicle with 83,641 original miles and retains its original factory serial tags, body stamp, color combination, and drivetrain.
The Porsche 912 was produced from 1965 through 1969. This particular car was completed on February 24th, 1967, finished in Sand Beige exterior with Black Leatherette interior. Optional equipment included an antenna, Semperit 165/15 tires, raised steering wheel hub, front and rear bumper horns, Blaupunkt radio and loudspeaker. According to the original Bill of Sale, the car was shipped to Holbert’s Garages, Inc. in Warrington, Pennsylvania, and sold on April 10th, 1967, to Mr. Robert Handzo of Center Valley, Pennsylvania. The original purchase price was $5,252.95, which included the car, a 5-speed transmission, AM-FM radio, chrome wheels, bumper pads, and a round-type mirror. The dealership swapped the painted steel wheels for chrome wheels from another new 912.
Robert and his wife Judy joined the Porsche Club of America in 1971 and began showing the car shortly thereafter. “Skippy” won awards in five Porsche Parades (1972, 1974, 1976, 1978, and 1979), participating in events across Colorado, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. In February 1988, the car was featured on the cover of Excellence magazine, including an eight-page article. The original owner meticulously recorded dates, mileage, average MPG, and service work from 1967 through 2021. Though driven, the car was always cared for exceptionally well, reflected in its outstanding overall condition. The car was even stored in a vacuum-sealed 10mm polyester bag to protect its finish.
After 54 years of ownership, Mr. Handzo sold the car to a second owner in May 2021, at which time the car had 80,020 original miles. The second owners have since enjoyed participating in various Classic Motorsports tours, 912 Registry events, and numerous Porsche Club of America driving and social activities. They also earned multiple PCA concours awards from 2022 to 2024, investing over $11,000 in parts and servicing during their ownership. The car currently has 83,637 original miles.
Included with the car are numerous original documents and memorabilia, such as:
Original owner’s manuals and tool kit
Original 1967 dealership Bill of Sale
Original handwritten and typed records by the original owner (1967-2021)
Original 1st Place Award from the 21st Porsche Parade Concours (1976)
Excellence magazine feature (1988)
Porsche Certificate of Authenticity issued in 2014
“Best in Show” award at Sonnenberg Gardens Car Show (2014)

Porsche Club of America Panorama magazine featuring the original owner’s sale ad (2021)
Classic Motorsports magazine features (2022)
Multiple PCA concours awards and recognition from 2022 to 2024
Various Porsche books, magazines, and 912 Registry memorabilia
The exterior of this 912 is remarkable for its original 58-year-old Sand Beige factory paint, which presents like a vehicle restored to number two condition. It retains 100% of its original factory sheet metal with excellent body lines and gaps. The paint shows minor fading and small chips typical for an original finish of this age, mostly on the front hood. The engine cover was repainted after a small crease caused by backing into a wire. The second owners added removable black vinyl Porsche stripes along the lower body for aesthetic enhancement. Original factory stainless trim, glass, wiper arms, antenna, bumpers, emblems, and rubber components remain in very good condition. The car is equipped with modern H4 LED-style headlights for improved visibility. It rides on original chrome 15” wheels in virtually flawless condition, mounted with Pirelli Cinturato 165/VR15 tires dated 2020. All exterior lights, horn, and wipers function perfectly.
The interior is equally impressive, featuring the original black Leatherette upholstery that shows virtually no wear and a white perforated headliner and sun visors in excellent condition. Original dash components, gauges, steering wheel, door panels, bucket seats, rear seats, carpeting, and pedals present like a near-number-one condition restoration. All interior electronics and gauges work properly, including lighting, radio, clock, and temperature controls.
The front trunk area is pristine, retaining original black textured paint surfaces and carpeting (with the larger center carpet replaced about 10 years ago). It holds the original factory spare chrome wheel dated November 1966, original jack, tools, and accessories. The underside of the hood and front nose show a factory-fresh appearance.
The rear engine compartment shows signs of careful preservation, with the rear engine mount bar and pan having been repainted several times. The original engine blanket insulation is deteriorating, consistent with age. The car is powered by its original matching-numbers 1.6L air-cooled flat-4 engine, derived from the last of the Porsche 356 models and tuned to 102 horsepower at 5800 rpm. The lightweight and efficient boxer engine delivers up to 30 miles per gallon. This engine, with its 83,641 original miles, runs excellently with no smoke on start or operation. It has never been rebuilt and was recently serviced with documented invoices. The car retains its original factory 5-speed manual transmission, although the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity contains an incorrect record of the transmission, possibly due to a dealership modification before the original sale.
The undercarriage is in outstanding original condition with factory black textured paint on the floors and recently repainted original exhaust. Steering, suspension, and brakes have been recently serviced with documentation available.
The story of this special 1967 Porsche 912 Coupe has been confirmed through direct conversations with the original owner, Mr. Robert G. Handzo. This vehicle offers a rare opportunity to own a truly original, award-winning survivor in exceptional condition, with a rich documented history and provenance.
