1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Custom

“As our customers and followers know, this 1969 Camaro Z28 is great blend of both. It sports its original color of Hugger Orange with black Z28 stripes which looks awesome. It’s been beautifully restored with tasteful upgrades including the wheels, interior, engine, transmission, rear end, suspension and brakes. Think of this car as a Z28 on steroids. Make sure to read the highlights and description to learn everything this car has to offer.” – Marc Schiliro

This gorgeous 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Custom has been restored to show quality standards and is loaded with upgrades. Although this car falls into the custom category it still has a lot of the original factory DNA. As the original Trim Tag indicates this car was built at the Norwood, Ohio factory on the third week of November in 1968 as a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro 8-cylinder Coupe with a Hugger Orange exterior and custom black interior. The monthly VIN report coincides with the build date indicated on the Trim Tag. The previous owner was the caretaker for the last 32 years. From the information gathered this car was an early built Z28 model which wouldn’t have an X-code on the Trim Tag. The previous owner stated it was indeed a real Z28 prior to the restoration but there is no evidence to support this claim. This car was a product of a meticulous nut and bolt restoration which was completed in 2019. Since completion it’s been driven roughly 1000 miles. January of 2025 is the first time it’s been listed for sale.

The exterior of this 69 Camaro is striking with its original factory design, Hugger Orange paint and American Racing VF481 staggered polished wheels. From the information gathered this car retains all its original sheet metal with exception of the rear quarters which were replaced with NOS panels at the time of restoration. From the information gathered this car was drag raced earlier on in its life which was common and modifications were made to the rear quarters. The body sports a cowl induction hood, front spoiler and lower rear spoiler which are correct for the earlier built Camaro models. The body is very straight with excellent gap lines throughout. It was repainted in its original factory color of Hugger Orange paint with black Z28 stripes. Hugger Orange is a very desirable factory color and dresses the body so nicely. The show quality paint was recently detailed to a brilliant shine. The previous owner showed this car and won awards for the paint. The front windshield was replaced new. All of the remaining glass is original with Soft-Ray stamps and in very nice overall condition. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced new such as the glass stainless trim, wiper arms, dual mirrors, antenna, front grille, headlights, front bumper, fender trim, door handles, lower rocker moldings, rear quarter louvers, tail light bezels, rear bumper and emblems. The car has a killer stance on new American Racing Forged VF481 wheels that are 17×7 on the front and 18×9 on the rear. The wheels are wrapped with General G-Max RS tires that were replaced in 2022.

The interior of this 69 Camaro was completely restored to the original factory appearance with a few subtle upgrades. It was redone in its original trim of custom black which complements the exterior black stripes perfectly. Everything on the interior was restored or replaced new such as the headliner, dome light, sun visors, rear view mirror, dash pad, dash fascia, wood trim, gauges, Astro vents, 3-spoke wood steering wheel, console, door panels, pedals and carpeting. Some of the new custom touches include factory COPO style 140-mph speedometer, Autometer console gauges including volts, water temp, oil and fuel, SST shifter with black shift knob, Autosound stereo system, TMI bucket seats with matching upholstery and carpeted floor mats. The trunk compartment was nicely restored and finished with the correct style splatter paint. It was outfitted with a factory style trunk mat.

The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with many custom parts. The hood pivots on aluminum hood hinges which match the wheels. The firewall, inner fenders and radiator support was finished in the correct shade of satin black. It’s equipped with aluminum fender support braces which also match the hinges and wheels. The car is powered by a Fletcher built 383 V8 with Holley Terminator fuel injection management system. This engine was built with high-end internal parts such as Molnar Technologies forged crank and rods, Comp custom ground hydraulic roller cam and roller rockers, AFR 195 CNC ported aluminum heads, Edelbrock intake and throttle body, Holley Sniper ignition and coil. The orange painted block was dressed with factory style polished valve covers and air cleaner. Some other upgraded parts include a custom oil pan, aluminum water pump, front serpentine system with aluminum pulleys and brackets. The engine runs excellent and is estimated to have around 450 horsepower. The engine is cooled by an aluminum radiator with dual SPAL electric fans and aluminum overfill canister. The engine breathes through Hooker Competition ceramic long tube headers and a ceramic H-pipe dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers. The engine is coupled to a Tremec TKO 600 5-speed manual transmission from Silver Sport Transmissions and is equipped with a hydraulic clutch. The power is transferred to a Dynotech drive shaft and GM 12-bolt POSI rear end with Richmond 3.73 gears. The rear end was decorated with a GM rear end differential cover.

The undercarriage is also highly detailed throughout with many custom parts. The floors were painted Hugger Orange to match the exterior and the sub-frame was painted black. It’s equipped with a CPP power steering system. The fuel system consists of an in-tank fuel pump and stainless-steel lines. The suspension components include a Hotchkis front sway bar, Hotchkis 2” drop springs and KYB Gas-A-Just shocks. The four wheel disc power braking system includes a 12” booster, polished master cylinder, Right Stuff Signature black calipers with 12” drilled and slotted rotors.
