Jerry and his co-worker Norman Meads have worked with the company for many years and have become friends. The 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 you’re about to witness checks all the boxes for the true collector and yes, it’s Hugger Orange!” – Marc Schiliro

This stunning 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 has been completely restored to show quality standards and is fully documented with its original GM Protecto Plate. It retains its original color combination, original matching numbers engine, original matching numbers transmission and original matching numbers rear end. Yes, it has the tri-fect-a. It was certified as authentic by Camaro expert Jerry MacNeish of Camaro Hi-Performance on October 19th, 2022. The original report and certificate are included. In 1969, only 20,302 Camaro Z28s were produced and they’re one of the most popular muscle cars from the 1960s which makes them highly collectible. As the NCRS Shipping Data Report that’s included and original (X77) trim tag document this car was built at the Norwood factory on April 3rd, 1969. It was ordered with a Hugger Orange with white stripes exterior and Black Deluxe interior. It was ordered with the following options: (A01)- tinted glass, (D55) console, (D80)- spoiler equipment, (G80) positract rear axle with 4.10 gears, (J52) power disc brakes, (M21) 4-speed transmission, (U17)- special instrumentation, (U63)- AM radio, (Z28)- special engine and equipment package, (Z87)- deluxe interior and (ZK3)- deluxe seat belts. It was sold new at Model Garage Chevrolet located in Middletown, MD which was dealer code 381 in zone 14. It was purchased by Dwight Moser on April 10th, 1969 as documented on the original GM New Vehicle Warranty Owner Protection Plan booklet and plate that is included. The original salesperson’s business card is also included. From the information gathered the car spent 42 years in Maryland with a total of five owners. The fifth owner had the car restored by Frank Smartnick Restorations in Greensburg, PA in 2003. It was sold to a gentleman in Texas in 2011 who was the sixth owner. This gentleman enjoyed the car including attending car shows where it achieved multiple awards. Some of the awards include 2nd Place West Houston Musclepalooza 2016, Top 30 West Houston Musclepalooza 2018, 2nd Place- CCC Car Show 2019, Top 30 and Best Award West Houston Musclepalooza 2019. All of these awards are included. An owner’s manual, two show boards, advertisement piece, original AM radio and original dash speaker are also included. The car was listed for sale in November of 2024 for the first time.

The exterior of this 69 Camaro Z28 is truly stunning with its gorgeous color combination. From the information gathered the original flat hood was replaced with a cowl hood by the original owner. This was common during the era and restorations today as more were ordered with flat hoods than cowl hoods. The straight body was painted in its original color of Hugger Orange with white stripes. The paint is show quality and was recently detailed to a brilliant shine. Jerry MacNeish indicated in his report that the paint had nice attention to detail. Many enthusiasts agree that there’s nothing better than a Hugger Orange 69 Camaro Z28! All of the tinted glass was replaced new and the Soft-Ray stamps were added. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced such as the glass stainless trim, wiper arms and blades, antenna, driver’s side mirror, grille, Wagner headlights, front bumper, front spoiler, lower rocker molding, tail lights, rear bumper with guards and all emblems. The car has a great stance on 15 Rally wheels with trim rings and center caps. The wheels are wrapped with the correct style Goodyear Wide Tread GT E70-15 tires with white raised letters.

The interior of this 69 Camaro Z28 is also truly stunning especially considering it’s mostly original. Yes, it retains most of its original interior! Jerry MacNeish indicated in his report very good original interior. The black deluxe interior complements the exterior color perfectly. The deluxe interior was the top of the line interior for a Z28. Some of the deluxe interior upgrades included woodgrain accents, door panels with bright accents and comfort-weave bucket seats. The upgraded interior not only looks fancier but it provides more comfort. Everything in this interior shows extremely well such as the headliner, sun visors, rear view mirror, dash pad, gauges, steering column, center console with auxiliary gauges, pedals and carpeting. It retains the original production 6000 rpm red line 8000 rpm tachometer. A new reproduction steering wheel, Custom Autosound stereo and dash speaker were added. It has the correct style rubber floor mats. Everything in the interior is in working order with exception of the clock. The trunk compartment presents very nicely and was repainted in the correct style trunk splatter paint. It’s equipped with a matching spare wheel, matching tire and jack tools.

The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout with many correct parts. The hidden VIN stamp in cowl area is original and authentic as indicated by Jerry MacNeish in his report. The firewall, inner fenders and radiator support were painted in the correct satin black. The engine compartment was refreshed. The original Muncie speedometer hole is stamped out below the wiper motor on the firewall. The car is powered by its original matching numbers DZ302 V8. This high performance engine was rated from the factory with 290HP but had much more than advertised. This engine has been completely rebuilt and runs excellent. The engine casting number is #618 with a casting date of #B89 and #V0325DZ assembly date. The VIN number is stamped in the rough casting by the oil filter. The original cylinder heads with #186 casting dated B129 and C199 were installed. The original Holley #4053 carburetor dated 934 is still retained. It still retains the original 3/8 fuel line and 302 engine frame mounts. The original alternator #1100837 is dated 9C24. The engine is cooled by the original Harrison CB coded radiator with tank code dated C of 1969. It also has the original fan blade stamped B69. The original brake booster #9204 is dated 45th day of 1969. The brake master cylinder was painted the correct color of black. Everything in the engine compartment has been restored or replaced such as the hinges, wiring, wiper motor, hoses, clamps, pulleys and belts. A new battery with an Autolite battery topper was installed. The engine breathes through the original factory style manifolds and new stainless chambered exhaust system. The tail pipe adaptor plate is on rear left side frame rail with factory spot welds. The engine is coupled to the original matching numbers Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. The transmission was rebuilt and shifts smoothly through all the gears. The transmission casting number is #660 and #P9C05B assembly date. The VIN number is stamped on the transmission. The power is transferred to the original matching numbers 12-bolt rear axle with positract and 4.10 gears which was rebuilt and works excellent. The casting number is #860NF with date C49 and #BV0401G2 assembly date.

The undercarriage is very clean throughout with many correct parts. As Jerry MacNeish stated in his report, very good original floors which have never been restored with undercoating. From the information gathered the floors were undercoated when the car was new to prevent rust. The undercarriage was refreshed. Everything underneath the car has been restored or replaced such as the steering system, suspension components and braking system. This car drives down the road very nicely and handles well.

Original drivetrain Z28s are hard to find in today’s market place as many of these cars were blown up from abuse on the street and race track when they were new. – Jerry MacNeish
